FAQs

Why should I support the Almanac News?

In our modern world where small, locally-owned businesses are giving way to large chain stores and online shopping sites, a healthy local news business model must have multiple revenue streams to survive, supported by both advertisers and readers.

Readers supporting Almanac News is an essential piece to allowing us to continue providing quality journalism to our community.

Contributing to support local news helps fund a professional staff of local journalists who focus on sharing the stories that matter most to our community.

I already get some of your content for free, so why should I pay?

We hope you believe in our mission of keeping our community connected and informed and value it in a way that justifies your financial support. Quality local journalism will not survive without the support of its readers. Additionally, your membership qualifies you to other benefits including unlimited access to online content, our exclusive monthly behind-the-scenes newsletter, Local Scoop, discounts on local entertainment and dining, free ticket giveaways, and invitations to our own special events.

I am a registered user and log in to your site to participate in the Town Square forum. Doesn’t that mean I’m a paid member? Why am I being blocked from seeing stories?

Registering on our site is unrelated to whether you are a paid member. Registration is free and allows you to post comments on Town Square. While some registered users are also paid members, most are not. If you think you have paid for a membership within the last year, please reach out to us so we can update your account status.

What will my contribution go towards?

100% of your contribution goes directly towards the work of local journalists, reporting local stories, in our community.

Do you store my credit card number?

We do not store your credit card. Instead, we use a third party PCI compliant partner (Braintree) to securely save your credit card data and make recurring charges.

How do I know if I am already a member?
