Exhibits

'Stonewalled in Jerusalem'
Santa Cruz mixed media artist Sara Friedlander will have on display her visually arresting and socially focused artwork, which contemplates the Israeli/Palestinian impasse. Using original and archival images, she explores both sides and welcomes viewers' ideas about moving forward. May 16-August 25, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Free. Oshman Family JCC, 3921 Fabian Way, Palo Alto.

Art Galleries

'Capturing Light'
"Capturing Light: The World as We See It" is a judged exhibit and sale of 50 prints by members of the Palo Alto Camera Club, including 12 photos taken in Havana, Cuba. A percentage of proceeds from print sales will go to Cultural Kaleidoscope, a City of Palo Alto program supporting art in local schools. Monday-Friday, March 10-August 28, 8 a.m.-noon; 1-5 p.m. Free. Volunteers

Silicon Valley Tour de Coop preparation
Neighbors Helping Neighbors will hold a variety of volunteer activities leading up to and during the Silicon Valley Tour de Coop, a bike ride between chicken coops and home gardens on Sept. 21. Volunteer opportunities include putting up fliers and posters, doing test bike rides, organizing other small events to spread the word and staffing locations on tour day. The organization also seeks community members with chicken coops, beehives and home gardens to host stops. June-September, dates and times vary. Free. Palo Alto Toastmasters
Since 1924, Toastmasters International has been helping people around the world to improve their communication and leadership skills. The Palo Alto Toastmasters Club meets each week in city hall's Council Chambers. Club membership is diverse, and guests are welcome. Tuesdays, through December, noon-1 p.m. Free. For the Love of Dance offers training in ballet, jazz, tap and other styles of dance. Serving Mountain View, Palo Alto, Los Altos and Sunnyvale, it is a family-owned studio that teaches dance to children and adults at all levels of ability.
