DanceScottish Country Dancing class
Mountain View Scottish Country Dance will hold an introductory class sharing the techniques and joy of the social dance form. Dancers ages 16 and up and of all levels are welcome. DanceSilicon Valley Ballet School Open House
Silicon Valley Ballet School (formerly Ballet San Jose) will celebrate back to school with a free open house event at its Palo Alto Studio. DanceL'Ecole de Danse fall season
Children ages 5 and up, teenagers and adults can sign up for fall classes at L'Ecole de Danse, a studio established by Christine Montessuit-Morgan in 1987 that teaches the Cecchetti style of ballet. Fifteen members of the Sahrdaya Foundation will present "Don Quixote," a 21st-century adaptation of the 17th-century Spanish novel. This production, directed and choreographed by Sheejith Krishna, will combine poetry, music, dance and theater. Sept. 12, 4-7 p.m. $20-$50. DanceSocial ballroom dancing
Friday Night Dancers organizes ballroom dancing events each Friday and Saturday evening. Each event starts with a lesson, which is followed by general dancing. No experience or partner is necessary; dressy casual attire is preferred. Cover charge includes refreshments. Friday and Saturday, year-round, 8-11:45 p.m. $9.
