An estimated 20 Bay Area bands playing a variety of musical styles -- from jazz and rock to folk acoustic -- will participate in a local Kosovo Relief Festival on Saturday, May 15, at Canada College in Woodside.
The event, to be held from 1 to 5 p.m., is part of an international effort to raise money for Kosovar refugees. Voluntary donations will go to the American Red Cross.
The Kosovo Relief Festival has grown to include 40 cities, and hundreds of bands, organizers say. Locally, Canada College and Silicon Valley's Guitar Activity Center will host the event.
The audience will have a chance to participate in a sing-and-drum-along.
Festivalgoers are encouraged to bring picnic baskets and blankets. Parking is free. Bands and community volunteers are still needed.
