Should Portola Valley form a high school? Should Portola Valley form a high school? (January 26, 2000)

**Parents look at ways to create or improve public high school.

High school seems like a long way off for parents of elementary school children, but that's not so for a group of Portola Valley parents.

They have invited other parents in Portola Valley, Woodside and the Las Lomitas School District to join them in an information session on Wednesday, January 26, focusing on ways of creating or improving a neighborhood public high school.

Some of the possibilities range from changing public high schools to building charter schools and growing a K-8 district into a K-12 district.

The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Corte Madera School multi-use room, 4575 Alpine Road, Portola Valley. For more information, call Chris Buja at 851-8171.

On hand to answer parents questions will be Dan Reibsen, field representative from the California Department of Education, and Dr. John Mehl, associate superintendent in the San Mateo County Office of Education.
