Police calls Police calls (December 13, 2000)

This information is from Atherton and Menlo Park police departments and the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Under law, people charged with offenses are considered innocent until convicted.

Atherton

Drunken driving reports:

**Rios Carmelo of Soda Springs was arrested December 1 on suspicion of driving while intoxicated at Watkins Avenue and Middlefield Road about 11:31 p.m. He was taken to First Chance alcohol treatment center.

**Caverly Kirk was arrested shortly after midnight December 4 on suspicion of driving while intoxicated at El Camino Real and Encinal Avenue and taken to First Chance alcohol treatment center.

Injury accident reports:

**One juvenile had minor injuries in a bicycle-car accident at Stockbridge Avenue and Selby Lane at 1:37 p.m. December 3.

**Driver was taken to Stanford Hospital with minor injuries after an accident about 8:33 a.m. December 1 at the intersection of Middlefield Road and Ravenswood Avenue.

**An unidentified person was taken to Kaiser Hospital in Redwood City with major injuries after a car-bicycle accident December 1 at 8:35 a.m. at the intersection of Middlefield Road and Ravenswood Avenue.

Menlo Park

Drunken driving reports:

**Leonel L. Barraza of East Palo Alto was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated at Willow Road and Bayfront Expressway at 3 a.m. December 3.

**Hector Lopez Jimenez was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and having a suspended driver's license shortly before midnight December 3 in the vicinity of University Avenue and Purdue.

Burglary reports:

**An unknown person entered a residence in the 2300 block of Olympic Avenue by prying open the sliding door of the master bedroom between 11:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Pendants and gold necklaces were reported missing.

**An unknown person entered a residence in the 1900 block of Menalto Avenue through a kitchen window sometime December 4. Four watches were reported missing.

**Marta Torres was arrested December 5 in the 3600 block of Haven Avenue on charges of burglary, fraud, and possession of stolen property, involving two purse thefts and charging $1,000 worth of merchandise on a victim's credit card. Another suspect was reported to the District Attorney's Office as also being responsible for the purse thefts.

Stolen vehicle reports:

**Linda Darnell Owens of East Palo Alto was booked into county jail December 5 for possession of a stolen vehicle near Burgess Park, possession of a controlled substance, and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
