Takes over

Dave Hobson, assistant manager in Coldwell Banker's Menlo Park Santa Cruz Avenue office, has been named manager of the office, which has 55 real estate agents.

Mr. Hobson, who has 26 years in the real estate business, joined Coldwell Banker with the 1995 acquisition of Fox & Carskadon, where he was a manager.

Mr. Hobson started his real estate career in 1976, working with his family's company, Hobson Properties. In 1982 he joined Grubb & Ellis, where he worked as a sales associate and later manager of the company's Palo Alto office.

He is a director for the California Association of Realtors.

An avid golfer and tennis player, Mr. Hobson and his wife Nancy and their two children, Laura, 14, and Kevin, 12, reside in Menlo Park.

No. 5 worldwide

Real estate agent Ed Kahl's $76 million in sales in 2001 represented the sale of 14 homes in Woodside, Atherton, Portola Valley, Los Altos Hills and Hillsborough, Coldwell Banker has announced.

He was the No. 1 producer for 2001 in Coldwell Banker's Woodside office and No. 5 in the company worldwide, Coldwell Banker said. He outpaced 99 percent of the 75,000 Coldwell Banker agents worldwide, the company said.

Mr. Kahl has 30 years of experience in real estate, and his portfolio has included the Folger Estate in Woodside.

Prior to joining Coldwell Banker, he was the CEO of a Bay Area commercial real estate development firm. He has a master's degree in economics from the University of California at Davis, and he has served on the Woodside Citizens Zoning Advisory Committee.
Top agent

Carol MacCorkle of the Menlo Park El Camino office of Coldwell Banker Northern California has been recognized for being among the top 1 percent of real estate agents company-wide.

Recording more than $53 million in home sales in 2001, she outpaced 99 percent of the 75,000 Coldwell Banker agents around the world, said Avram Goldman, president of Coldwell Banker Northern California.

Ms. MacCorkle, a real estate broker for 25 years, was the No. 1 agent for Fox & Carskadon Realtors, prior to its 1995 acquisition by Coldwell Banker.

She sits as a member of the Board of Trustees of Cornell University and has been active on Las Lomitas School District committees. She is also a volunteer for and member of the Menlo Circus Club, Metropolitan Club of San Francisco, Junior League of Palo Alto, and the East Palo Alto Tennis Tutorial.

Dede Barsotti of Atherton has been appointed to the board of directors of Borel Private Bank & Trust Company in San Mateo.

Ms. Barsotti is the administrative partner of Crosspoint Venture Partners, a venture capital firm. She served as a vice president of finance and corporate controller for Raychem Corp. from 1986 to 1999. She is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley

Betsy Bechtel of Palo Alto has also been appointed to the bank's board of directors.

Top performer

Miles McCormick, a real estate agent in the Menlo Park-El Camino office of Coldwell Banker, has been awarded the President's Premier designation, given to the top 1 percent of Coldwell Banker sales associates, based on sales production.

With 22 years of experience in real estate, and $300 million in residential real estate transactions since joining Coldwell Banker in 1995, Mr. McCormick has consistently placed among the top 1 percent of real estate agents in the region and the country, said Avram Goldman, Coldwell Banker president.
AIDS ride

Atherton resident Sandy Crittenden, owner of the Park Theatre, recently received a proclamation from the Atherton City Council honoring him for participation in the AIDS/LifeCycle ride May 13. Mr. Crittenden is a board member of the Menlo Park Rotary Club. The 600-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles raises money for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.
