Election 2002: Debate will focus on seven ballot measures Election 2002: Debate will focus on seven ballot measures (September 18, 2002)

Voters will have a chance to learn the pros and cons of state ballot measures on the November ballot at an "Election Issues Forum 2002" Thursday, September 19, at 7 p.m. in the Supervisors Chambers at 400 County Center, at the corner of Bradford and Hamilton streets, in Redwood City.

Among state issues to be decided November 5 are: a $2.1 billion housing bond; a $25.3 billion school bond; dedicated funding for after-school programs; $3.4 billion in bonds for water projects; allocation of money from motor vehicle sales taxes to highway and transit projects; and permission for voters to register on election day.

The San Mateo County League of Women Voters will provide background and questions for the forum, sponsored by the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors and the Peninsula Division of the League of California Cities.

For information on registering -- October 21 is the deadline --and voting, call 312-5222, or log onto www.shapethefuture.org.
