'Eleanor Roosevelt' in town
(October 16, 2002) "Eleanor Roosevelt," in the person of actress Elena Dodd, will be in Woodside and Portola Valley next week.
"Meet Eleanor Roosevelt," a popular living history event, is coming to the Woodside library at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 24. Ms. Dodd portrays one of America's most notable first ladies in a carefully researched one-woman theater piece.
She will be present the second of her four-part program about Mrs. Roosevelt's life, "1905-1945: Wife, Mother, and First Lady," encompassing the years of her marriage to Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and ending with his death in 1945. The library is located at 3140 Woodside Road. Call 851-0147 for information.
On Friday, October 25, Ms. Dodd will return to The Sequoias, the retirement community in Portola Valley, to present another chapter in Eleanor Roosevelt's life: "Advocate for Universal Human Rights." The program begins at 7 p.m. in Hansen Hall, 501 Portola Road, and is open to the community without charge. Ms. Dodd is the sister of Eileen Drath, who recently moved from Portola Valley to Friday Harbor in Washington.
