Graduation 2003: Woodside School
(June 11, 2003) Eighth-graders at Woodside School will receive their diplomas on Friday, June 13, during graduation ceremonies that begin at 5:30 p.m. in the school's amphitheater.
The Woodside Band, directed by Amanda Negrete with Jeremy Hunt, will play the processional. Eighth-graders Peter Adams and Elizabeth Horen will lead their classmates, families and friends in the salute to the flag and singing the national anthem.
Speaking at their graduation will be nine eighth-graders who wrote speeches on topics of their choice. They and their speech titles are: Danielle Gessow and Samara Miller, "A Future of Fame"; Ryley Lyon, "Unique in Every Way"; Suzy Quist and Christine Reinertson, "Good Role Models in Life"; John Coyne, "C'est la Vie"; Amy Bogart, "An Equal Chance"; and Haley Baskin and Sienna Beckman, "Memories."
Rhonda Gessow, president of the Woodside School Foundation, will give the commencement address.
During the ceremony, several awards will be presented to class members. Presenters and awards are: Bill Dolyniuk, science; Gordon Collet, athletic; Karen Peterson, community service; and Lori Lvingston, president of the Woodside School Board, the trustees' award.
Dr. John Harter, district superintendent/principal, will present the Class of 2003. He and Bob Sherman, dean of student, will then present the students with their diplomas.
