M-A dance team wins awards M-A dance team wins awards (January 28, 2004)

The new Menlo-Atherton Dance Team placed first in hip-hop and jazz divisions, and second place in the open category at the recent JAMZ competition at Cal State University Hayward.

The dance team will perform at a dance show at 7 p.m. Thursday, January 29, in the J building at Menlo-Atherton High School. Tickets will be available at the door for $5.

The team is directed by coach and choreographer Nona Pahulu-Ybarra, a professional dancer who teaches at Menlo Park Academy of Dance. The team performs at half time at varsity sports events at Menlo-Atherton High School.

Member of the dance team are team caption Jessica Merrill, Christina Higham, Alison Somer, Lauren Camarillo, Kimi Kitada, Meghan Gieber, Julia Comita, Sara Martineau, Sarah Hausman, Lauren Marcus, Sophia Stoller and Andrea Rivera.
