Police Calls Police Calls (February 18, 2004)

This information is from the Atherton and Menlo Park police departments and the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Under the law, people charged with offenses are considered innocent until convicted.
Atherton

Weapons charge: A student at Menlo-Atherton High School came to school with a dagger on February 6.

Vandalism: Someone entered a home for sale on the first block of Selby Lane sometime before February 9, turned on the water and caused major damage to walls, ceilings and floors.
Menlo Park

Spousal abuse: Spencer Vauss, 31, of Redwood City was arrested in the 1200 block of Henderson Avenue and booked into county jail February 6 on charges of spousal abuse.

Indecent exposure: Steven Sanchez, 41, of Menlo Park was arrested in the 1000 block of El Camino Real at 10:30 p.m. February 11 and booked into county jail on charges of indecent exposure.

Grand theft:

** Someone stole a laptop computer from a location in the 1000 block of El Camino Real on February 8.

** Someone stole items from a business in the 1300 block of El Camino Real on February 12.

Burglaries:

** Someone entered a business in 3700 block of Haven Avenue and stole several items sometime between February 6 and 9.

** A resident of the 200 block of Hedge Road had tools taken from an open garage on February 9.

** Someone cut the window screen and pried open the window of a building in the 500 block of Central Avenue on February 11.

Fraud:

** A person at the police station reported a possible fraud from his bank account on February 6.

** Someone purchased a vehicle with a counterfeit cashier's check in the 1100 block of Windermere Avenue on February 9.

** Someone attempted to pass a forged check in the 1300 block of Woodland Avenue on February 12.

Vandalism: Vehicle damaged, 1300 block of Windermere Avenue, February 7. Residential window smashed, 1300 block of Carlton Avenue, February 7. Tires slashed on vehicle, 1100 block of Madera Avenue, February 9. Sprinkler system damaged at a school, 400 block of Ivy Drive, February 10.

Petty thefts: Wallet taken, Scott Drive, February 8. Cell phone stolen, 300 block of Willow Road, February 10.
Woodside

Grand theft and larceny: A resident of the 300 block of Albion Way reported mail theft on February 6.

Stolen vehicle: Someone stole an unlocked vehicle that had the keys inside on February 5.

Lion sighting: A resident of the 100 block of Farm Road reported seeing a mountain lion in his horse pasture February 9.
West Menlo Park

Grand theft and larceny: Someone stole miscellaneous items from an unlocked vehicle in the 2000 block of Ashton Avenue on February 6.
