Sacred Heart stages 25th anniversary event Sacred Heart stages 25th anniversary event (March 17, 2004)

For their 25th annual auction and dinner, Sacred Heart Schools has chosen an "Under the Sea" theme for the fundraiser on Saturday, March 27, in Atherton.

Wearing seaworthy attire, about 500 people are expected to descend into the marine world of Spieker Pavilion at St. Joseph's School in Atherton for the event. It begins with cocktails and a silent auction, dubbed "Sunken Treasure," at 5:30 p.m. and then "Into the Deep" for dinner at 7:15 p.m., catered by Global Gourmet Catering.

Auctioneer Bruce Costello of DoveBid Inc. will launch the "Sea Hunt" for treasures. On the auction block will be a one-week stay at a seaside cottage on Martha's Vineyard, a clambake for 40 guests closer to home, and a private jet flight to Coos Bay, Oregon, for 36 holes of golf, dinner and lodging for four at the exclusive Bandon Dunes course.

A lucky bidder will enjoy a limousine ride to SBC Park for a night of baseball (Giants versus the Dodgers) and then a night on the town with "Trading Spaces" star Carter Oosterhouse and a special surprise on KTVU-TV. Other offerings include a seven-nights stay for two in London with two center-court seats at Wimbledon, whale-watching trip with faculty guides, and a salmon-fishing adventure near the Farallon Islands.

The event's finale will be "Seaquake," with music and dancing by the Fundamentals.

Tickets at $150 per person may be purchased by calling Ellen Lynch, auction and special events coordinator, at 473-4089.

Team chairs for this year's event are parent volunteers Montye Rodgers and Ellen Lussier, auction items; Jayne Mordell and Susan Evans, party; and Kathy Diekroeger and Mindy Rogers, production.

Sacred Heart Schools Atherton is a Catholic, independent, co-educational school founded in 1898 by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It offers classes from preschool through high school.
