Baseball: Bears drop game to Carlmont, 6-5
In the second game of the season for Menlo-Atherton and Carlmont, the Bears lost 6-5 at Carlmont High on Friday, March 19.
Carlmont led 6-3 going into the last inning when Bear Justin Dove, who had three hits, singled to start the comeback. Justin scored on a double by David Klein who then scored on a single by Alec Roth. Domenic Di Ricco, who had walked earlier in the inning, attempted to steal home and was thrown out to end the inning. With the loss the Bear's record drops to 4-6. Carlmont is 8-2.
Baseball: Bears edged Carlmont, 8-7
Two days earlier, on March 17, the roles were switched, with the Bears edging Carlmont 8-7 at Flood Park in Menlo Park.
In bottom of the sixth, M-A's Kyle McCabe launched his first home run of the season, tying the score at 3-3. Alec Roth then doubled and J.T. Power singled, driving in what appeared to be the winning run. However, in the top of the seventh, Carlmont scored four runs, helped by two errors by M-A.
The Bears rallied in the bottom of the seventh. With the bases loaded and trailing 7-4, Domenic Di Ricco singled, driving home two runs, and took second base on the throw home. Clark Hagman then doubled, driving in Alex Bedrosian with the tying run and Di Ricco with the winning run.
