PV's Carolyn Coates at leadership forum

Carolyn Coates of Portola Valley, an eighth-grader at the Girls' Middle School, recently traveled to Washington, D.C., to participate in the People to People World Leadership Forum.

She joined a group of students who delved into characteristics of American leadership during times of national challenge and prosperity. The students participated in small group discussions and exercises to learn how leaders develop strategies, make decisions, build consensus and bring about change.

Carolyn was chosen for the program based on scholastic merit, civic involvement and leadership potential. The program is coordinated by the People to People Ambassador Programs, designed to fulfill President Dwight D. Eisenhower's vision for fostering world citizenship.
