This information is from the Atherton and Menlo Park police departments and the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Under the law, people charged with offenses are considered innocent until convicted.
Atherton
Disturbance: Two or three juveniles
were seen driving around a parking lot at Menlo-Atherton High School shooting
an air gun at passing students on April 16. Accident: An unlicensed
driver flipped his car at the intersection of Marsh and Middlefield roads
on April 16. He suffered no injuries and walked away from the accident.
Grand theft: Someone stole a maple tree from the front yard of
a residence in the first block of Atherton Avenue on April 22. Petty
thefts: Plum tree stolen from front yard, first block of Shearer Drive,
April 19.
Menlo Park
Spousal abuse: Lynne Atkinson, 42,
of Menlo Park was arrested in the 700 block of Pierce Road on April 19
and booked into county jail. Battery: Elwyn Rainer, 41, of Menlo
Park was arrested on charges of domestic violence and vandalism in the
1300 block Windermere Avenue and booked into county jail on April 21.
Vehicle accidents: ** Two vehicles collided at the intersection
of El Camino Real and Oak Grove Avenue at 8 a.m. on April 22. One driver
was taken to Kaiser Hospital in Redwood City with neck, chest and back
pain. ** Three vehicles were stopped at the intersection of Marsh Road
and Scott Drive around 4 p.m. on April 22 when another vehicle collided
with the rear-most vehicle, causing a chain reaction that left all three
vehicles damaged, police said. A driver of one of the vehicles was transported
to Kaiser Hospital with back and neck pain. Hit-and-run: A woman
reported on April 22 that a vehicle drove into her vehicle at the intersection
of the Bayfront Expressway and Chilco Street and drove away. Grand
theft: Property stolen from unlocked vehicle, 100 block of Bay Road,
April 18. Items stolen from construction site, 900 block of Hamilton Avenue,
on or before April 19. Burglaries: ** Someone reported on April
19 that over the weekend someone stole property from the Belle Haven School
on Ivy Drive. ** Someone broke the rear gate to a business in the 1500
block of Adams Drive and stole a fertilizer spreader on April 21. Vehicle
theft: A resident of the 1300 block of Hollyburne Avenue reported
on April 21 that someone stole the resident's vehicle from in front of
the house. Auto burglaries: Cell phone and stereo stolen, intersection
of O'Keefe Street and Menalto Avenue, April 16. Personal items stolen,
200 block of Oakhurst Place, April 18. Personal property stolen, 200 block
of Hedge Road, on or before April 18.
Woodside
Hit-and-run: Someone reported on April 13 seeing a vehicle strike three separate cars and flee the scene. A vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle was involved in an accident later that day at the intersection of Interstate 280 and Farm Hill Boulevard. The driver could not be identified by any of the people involved.
Vandalism: Three juvenile suspects were seen breaking windows of a vacant residence in the 3000 block of Portola Road on April 16.
Burglary: Someone stole a laptop computer and a wooden end table from a residence in the 100 block of Highland Terrace on April 17.
Portola Valley
Grand theft:
** Someone stole cash from the cash register of a business in the 900 block of Portola Road on March 14.
** Someone stole a laptop computer from Corte Madera School on April 1.
Burglaries: Someone broke into a residence in the 300 block of Cervantes Road and stole jewelry and other items. Lucy Hartman, 40, of San Carlos was arrested at a pawn shop on charges of attempting to sell the stolen property.
West Menlo Park
Fraud:
** A resident of the 1700 block of Croner Avenue reported on April 14 that the resident's suitcase was lost on a flight and that someone made fraudulent purchases with checks that were in the suitcase.
** A resident of the first block of Berenda Way reported on April 20 that someone made numerous fraudulent charges on the resident's credit card.
