The amphitheater at Woodside School again will be the setting for the eighth-grade graduation that begins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, June 11.

The Woodside School Band, directed by Amanda Negrete, will play Elgar's "Pomp and Circumstances" for the processional as the eighth-graders enter the amphitheater.

Students Robert Louis Losey and Morgan James Musto will lead their classmates, families and friends in the salute to the flag and the singing of the national anthem.

The Class of 2004 has chosen to sing "The World's Greatest" by R. Kelly as its class song.

Student speeches will begin after the class welcome with Dana Anne Feeny and Alyssa Nicole Warren's "Time to Say Goodbye." Hayes Phillips Hyde will talk about "Seeing the World through Your Own Eyes"; Anita Cornejo-Rodriguez has chosen "Family: Our Greatest Treasure"; and Michael James Fisher will look at "The World Outside of Woodside." Marie Ann Alftin's topic is "I Will Remember" and Stephanie Castillo-Gallegos will talk about "Appreciating Culture."

Earlier at the eighth-grade luncheon on June 9, hosted by the seventh-grade parents, eighth-graders will give speeches that look back at Woodside School days and to the future. The speakers will be: Daisy Nallely Rodriquez-Jimenez, "A Time for All"; Rachel Lauren Elizabeth Matthews, "Eleven Years Passed"; and Elizabeth Daly and Willa Caughey, "Good Luck Charms."

Rich Kelley, a former member of the Woodside School District board, will give the commencement address.

During the ceremony, several awards will be presented to class members. Presenters and awards are: Bill Dolyniuk, academic; Gordon Collet, athletic; Karen Arimoto-Peterson, community service; and Amanda Negrete, music. Lori Livingston, president of the Woodside School board, will present the trustees' award.

Bob Sherman, dean of students, will present the Class of 2004, and he and Superintendent/Principal John Harter will present the students with their diplomas.

A reception for the graduates, their families and guests will begin immediately after the ceremony.
