Apline Little League enters playoff season

Upper-division playoffs in the Alpine West Menlo Little League got underway Monday. The games were played after the Almanac's deadline. First-place Professional Insurance (16-2) was matched with Morey's (10-8), and second-place Stanford Park Hotel (11-7) played Partners (10-8).
Regular season play finished June 5 with more than a few upsets as the teams vied for spots in the upper division playoffs. Professional Insurance (Pros) finished in first place with their best record ever, 16-2. Stanford Park Hotel claimed second place with a record of 11-7 after two strong wins: 7-2 over Hengehold on June 1, and 7-3 over Peak Performance on June 5. In the game against Peak, Stanford Park was down 3-1 going into the top of the sixth, but scored six times to leave Peak to tie for fifth place.
Morey's prevailed in two tough games to tie for third place with Partners, both at 10 wins and 8 losses. On June 1, Morey's beat Lutticken's 6-5. On June 5, Morey's and Hengehold went into extra innings before Morey's won, 7-6. Hengehold dropped to the lower division playoffs and a tie for fifth place with Peak Performance, both at 9-9 for the season.
