The Portola Valley town picnic is on for Saturday, June 12, at the Town Center at 765 Portola Road.

The town is 40 years old in June, which will be noted at the picnic with a cake and a booth with a historical timeline and invitations for original residents to identify themselves. Those residents will be honored at a celebration being planned for September at the Blues & Barbecue Festival.

At the picnic, the Zots-to-Tots walking/biking/running race begins at 10:30 a.m. at Rossotti Field on Alpine Road; registration starts at 10 a.m. Children's on-stage performing arts start at 11 a.m., with children's lawn games starting at 11:30 a.m. There will be noontime story and at 2 p.m., comedian, magician, singer and balloon artist Daffy Dave will take the stage.

Lunch -- if you don't bring your own -- will be available through the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, who will be selling barbecue, soft drinks and cotton candy.
