Family fun at Filoli
Petunia planting, face painting, and a petting zoo for kids will be featured at the second annual "Summer at Filoli" from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 26, at the Woodside estate.
Grown-up activities will include floral design lectures, scrapbook workshops, and jazz performances at lunchtime. There will be nature education hikes for the entire family.
A collection of paintings and drawings by Filoli's art teachers will also be on display. The exhibitors include Bill Cheney of Menlo Park and Kathy Sharpe of Los Altos.
Admission to "Summer at Filoli" is $15 for adults, $1 for children 2-12, and free for children under 2. Barbecue picnic lunches -- available at $15 for adults and $6 for children -- must be ordered in advance.

Cowboy poetry and music
"Sourdough Slim" will be there. So will "The Saddle Cats," a Western swing band. So why not mosey out to the Mounted Patrol grounds at 521 Kings Mountain Road, Woodside, for the annual Woodside western music and cowboy poetry concert? The concert is slated for 7 p.m. Saturday, June 19.
Performers will also include singers Kay Hansen and Bob Weber, and cowboy poet Larry Maurice.
Tickets are available at the gate for $15. Gates open at 5p.m. and a barbecue supper costs $10. For more information, call the Mounted Patrol of San Mateo County at 366-7860.
Feast of Corpus Christi
A festival to honor the feast of Corpus Christi will be held Sunday, June 13, by the cloistered Dominican Nuns of Corpus Christi Monastery, 215 Oak Grove Ave., Menlo Park.
Mass at 10 a.m. will be celebrated by the Rev. Roberto Corral, who is the provincial of the Western Dominican Province. Father Corral was born in east Los Angeles and graduated from Occidental College in 1976, entering the Dominican Order in 1980. Before his election as provincial in 2003, he served as pastor of St. Dominic's Church in San Francisco and Holy Trinity Church in Phoenix.
The Dominican Novice Brothers from St. Dominic's Church in San Francisco will join the nuns in singing the music for the occasion.
The ceremony will conclude with a procession and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. The Corpus Christi Monastery has been located on Oak Grove Avenue since 1927.
The public is invited to attend this day of reflection and prayer.
Vintage vehicles
One-of-a-kind vintage vehicles will be on display during the Museum of American Heritage's Father's Day extravaganza to be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 20, at Addison School, corner of Addison and Middlefield Roads, Palo Alto.
The day will also include a pancake breakfast, live music and entertainment, prize drawings and children's activities.
Admission is $15, $10 for children under 12. Admission for children under 2 is free. Food is additional. For more information, call 321-1004.
