Portola Valley Town Center action may be delayed Portola Valley Town Center action may be delayed (June 30, 2004)

The day of decision -- June 30 -- is now upon the Portola Valley Town Council to engage a team of architects on a final design for the new complex at Town Center.

The 7 p.m. Town Council meeting on Wednesday in the town's multi-use room at 765 Portola Road is the last of four community workshops intended to bring sharp focus to the question of which activities and structures should be included in a redesign of the complex.

But if one of several competing designs does not emerge as a clear choice at the meeting, the council may put off action for two months to allow for more comment, said Town Administrator Angela Howard.

If the decision is delayed, the town's Architecture & Site Control Commission and Planning Commission will weigh in, Ms. Howard said. And the town will provide copies of the proposed designs and comment forms in the library and town hall.

The designs are also posted on the town Web site at portolavalley.net. To view images of the designs, click on the link "A Charrette in Action."
