Police seek suspects in Willow Road robbery
(June 30, 2004) Police are seeking suspects in an armed robbery and assault that reportedly took place June 23 after two vehicles ran another off the road on Willow Road at Ivy Drive in the Belle Haven neighborhood of Menlo Park.
The victim, a 37-year-old Menlo Park woman, was driving a red Honda sport-utility vehicle at around 1:45 a.m. when the two vehicles -- which contained as many as five men and one woman -- forced her SUV off the road, said Sgt. Mark Boettger of the Menlo Park Police Department.
"After the impact, the suspects rushed the woman, forcibly removing her from the vehicle and robbing her at gunpoint," Sgt. Boettger wrote in a press release. The suspects, some of whom had baseball bats, took an undisclosed amount of cash from the woman and assaulted her, causing minor injuries, police said.
It does not appear that the woman knew the suspects, police said.
Police are describing the suspect with the gun as a black man, 25 to 30, 6 feet 4 inches tall and 240 to 250 pounds, with acne and no facial hair. The suspects' vehicles were described as a large tan or brown vehicle and a white Honda Civic-style car.
Anyone with information about the crimes is asked to call Menlo Park Police Detective Bill Massey at 330-6363.
