Woodside team tops tennis league

The Woodside School Tennis Team, joined by 12 Phillips Brooks School fifth-graders, defeated Menlo School's eighth-grade team 6-3 on May 21 to win the Peninsula Middle School Tennis Championship.
Three of the four singles matches were won by Woodside, with Robert Wickers defeating Adrian Rosenkranz, Jack Schoebel defeating Allison Carlisle, and Andrew Carlisle topping Brian Flaxman.
Marjorie Adams notched Menlo's only singles victory, with a hard-fought win over Alec Haley.
Menlo's No. 1 doubles team led by Noah Greenburg also came through with a win.
Woodside's doubles teams of Philip Anderson and Alexander Rosenbluth, Niko Foti and Zack Wentz, Maclean Osborne and Eliza Adams, Matt and Sean Sprinkle, and Kimberly and Stephanie Carlisle played tough matches to help secure the win.
To reach the finals, Woodside posted victories against Menlo School's seventh-grade team and St. Joseph's.
Thayer Adams, Karen Wickers and Di Foti coached the players from Woodside and Phillips Brooks School. Also contributing to the team throughout the season were Mark Foti, Ryan Nowicki, Drew Bonham, Brian Little, Alex Booher, Lindsay Williford, and Natalie and Travis McHugh.
