Menlo man arrested in homicide Menlo man arrested in homicide (July 07, 2004)

A 22-year-old Menlo Park man has been charged with fatally shooting another man at a June 19 graduation party in the Belle Haven neighborhood.

Jailee Shan Fontenot was arrested around 2 p.m. July 1 as he was driving away from his home, said Sgt. Matt Bacon of the Menlo Park Police Department.

After searching Mr. Fontenot's car and home, officers found what they suspected to be methamphetamine and marijuana, and he was also charged with possession of narcotics for sale and possession of a firearm while committing a felony, Sgt. Bacon said. He was booked into San Mateo County Jail.

Sgt. Bacon would not comment on whether Mr. Fontenot knew the victim, 21-year-old Travis Quesada of Menlo Park, or whether he was also a guest at the party in the 1300 block of Hill Avenue.

Mr. Quesada was shot several times and was dead by the time police arrived around 11:30 p.m. A memorial of candles, flowers and personalized mementos was later placed on the sidewalk at Ivy Drive and Hill.

As the investigation continues, anyone with information is asked to call Menlo Park Police Detective Ron Albertson at 330-6361 or the department's anonymous tip line at 330-6395.

The shooting was Menlo Park's second homicide this year, police said. Rodolfo Gonzales, 45, was shot and killed in April by two robbers in his Hollyburne Avenue driveway. No one has been arrested in that case, Sgt. Bacon said.
