Reporting mountain lion sightings Reporting mountain lion sightings (August 04, 2004)

In the July 14 issue of the Almanac, in a column about living with wildlife, called "Wild Side," a phone number was given to report mountain lion sightings. That number has been disconnected. The Department of Fish and Game now recommends that callers in our area report mountain lion sightings to the department's Monterey office by calling (831) 649-2870 during normal business hours, says department information officer Troy Swauger. If it's an emergency, dial 911. The Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA can be called -- (650) 363-4953 -- to report injured mountain lions only .
