Woodside town attorney to retire after 20 years Woodside town attorney to retire after 20 years (August 04, 2004)

Bob Lanzone, who has served as Woodside's town attorney for 20 years, will retire at the end of the year, he recently announced.

Mr. Lanzone has been the town's legal counsel since 1985.

He will be 62 next month, and has promised his family he would cut back on his law practice, Mr. Lanzone said. He is also the city attorney for San Carlos, and said he will continue to work there, but he plans to be completely retired in the next few years.

"I'm going to miss him tremendously," said Susan George, Woodside's town manager since 1993. "He's the only city attorney I've ever worked with who is a team player. He is straightforward, candid, has a sense of humor, he's supportive and he's become a close personal friend as well as a colleague."

Mr. Lanzone said he intends to stay on with Woodside until a replacement is hired, and will assist with ongoing matters during the transition period.

"I feel both proud and lucky to have lasted this long, given the issues and personalities that come before the town," Mr. Lanzone said of his 20 years working for the town. "No doubt, having our town manager take over the reins in 1993 has helped a lot."
