Ask the officer Ask the officer (August 18, 2004)

Menlo Park police officer Glenn J. Raggio answers questions about the police and law enforcement. Call 330-6396, or e-mail: asktheofficer@menlopark.org.

Q. What is the average age of the police officers in your department? And at what age is one eligible to become an officer?

A. You have to be at least 21 by the time you graduate from the Police Academy. As for the average age, if we threw out the oldest (me) and youngest (23), a close guess would be that the average is in the low 30s.
