The Environment Fest, Woodside's celebration of all things green and environmentally sound, has morphed into a somewhat classier affair this year as "Earth & Art 2004."
Instead of occupying the parking lot below Independence Hall at Town Center, the festivities are moving this year to the Runnymede sculpture farm from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 9.
Admission is no longer free, but consolations include self-guided tours of the sculpture farm, carriage rides, and an optional gourmet lunch catered by Jesse Cool of the Flea Street Cafe and jZCool renown.
Besides the dozens of environmentally themed exhibits, the event features a children's art contest and displays of painting, sculpture and photography by local artists. As always, music will be provided by the Woodside Village Band.
The awards for Woodside's Environmental Champion, heritage trees owners and the new Creeks Champion category will be handed out at 1 p.m. A presentation on the secret life of California's wild birds and animals by Wildlife Associates is scheduled for 1:45 p.m.
Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for children 12 and under, and $8 for a family of up to four people. Admission plus lunch cost $10 for adults and $5 for children.
Advance tickets are required, and can be purchased from Woodside Town Hall, 851-6790, or at Woodside elementary school, 851-1571, ext. 0. Wine tasting is $1 for three samples.
Information and entry forms for the children's art contest are available from Karen Peterson at Woodside Elementary, 851-1571, ext. 266.
