Caption with Carol Ivie photo in print edition: The Rossotti soccer field on Alpine Road in Portola Valley now offers new bleachers. While the structure is concrete, the seats are planks made from recycled grocery bags, shrink-wrap and waste wood. The town spent over $400,000 -- about $110,00 of which was donated by residents and two soccer organizations -- to renew the once-muddy field with new irrigation and drainage systems, fences, benches and grass. The bleacher steps are paved with personalized red bricks from donors.
