Election 2004: Debate this week on ballot measures

The pros and cons of seven propositions on the November 2 ballot will be debated from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, at Michael's at Shoreline restaurant in Mountain View. Sponsored by the South Peninsula Area Republican Coalition, the event is open to the public. Admission is $25 for members, $30 for nonmembers and $5 for students.

Sample ballots in the mail

San Mateo County sample ballots and voter information pamphlets will be mailed to registered voters over the next three weeks, said Warren Slocum, the county's chief elections officer. People also can get the information online at www.shapethefuture.org. For the visually impaired, the information is available on audio tape.
