Police Calls Police Calls (October 20, 2004)

This information is from the Atherton and Menlo Park police departments and the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Under the law, people charged with offenses are considered innocent until convicted.

Atherton

Vandalism reports: A homemade device containing nails was placed under the tire of an automobile, causing significant damage to the tire, 100 block of Greenoak Drive, October 9.

Mountain lion report: A mountain lion was seen jumping over a 10 foot fence at Melanie Lane, October 10, at 2:30 p.m.

Menlo Park

Grand-theft reports: A laptop was stolen, 1000 block of El Camino Real, October 8. More than $1,000 worth of gardening tools were taken from a truck, 1100 block of Del Norte Avenue, October 10. Three sets of golf clubs were stolen from a storage unit after the door was forced open, 600 block of Monte Rosa Drive, October 11.
A dog was taken from a carport, 100 block of Newbridge Street, October 12.

Burglary report: A red and white Cannondale bicycle was stolen from a locked office, 2100 block of Sand Hill Road, October 12.

Fraud report: A man reported that his Social Security number was used to open up a bank account and charge $3,100, 900 block of Wallea Drive.

Woodside

Theft report: A mailbox was stolen from in front of a residence, 400 block of Old La Honda Road, September 21.

Burglary report: Some power tools were stolen from a garage, 400 Block of Hillside Drive, October 7.

Theft report: A backpack was stolen from the men's locker room floor of Canada College, October 7.

Forgery report: Personal information was stolen and used to open credit cards and accounts, 200 block of Highland Terrace, October 11.

Portola Valley

Bicyclist injured: A cyclist was injured at Portola Road and Westridge Drive on September 21 when a vehicle made a right-hand turn in front of the bicycle, and the bicycle rider swerved to get out of the way but collided with the side of another vehicle. The cyclist was taken to Stanford Hospital.

Burglary report: A dirt bike was taken from the garage of a home, 100 Block of Meadow Creek Court, October 5.
A purse was stolen from a car, after one of the windows was broken, Alpine Road at Willow Brook Drive, October 10.

Theft report: A ring was stolen from a house, 1300 block of Cloud Ave., October 10.
