Talk on living with impaired vision

Friends of the Menlo Park Library is hosting a free program on living with impaired vision on Saturday, November 6, at 11 a.m. in the Menlo Park Library's downstairs meeting room.

Speakers Judy Adams of JBliss Imaging Systems, Dr. Curtis W. Keswick and Dr. Jennifer Wood will discuss common eye problems in older adults, including glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetes in the eyes.

There will be a demonstration of devices to assist low-vision readers, such as magnifiers and computer programs that read and magnify text.

The library is at 800 Alma St. in the Menlo Park Civic Center. Free van service is available for Menlo Park seniors and people with disabilities. To schedule transportation, call 330-2512.

Boy Scouts to hold pancake breakfast

Troop 64 of the Boy Scouts of America will hold its annual pancake breakfast fundraiser at the Woodside Fire Station from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, November 6, at Station 8 of the Woodside Fire Protection District at 135 Portola Road in Portola Valley.

The scouts will serve orange juice, scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausages, milk and coffee. Tickets may be purchased at John's Market and Bianchini's Market the two weekends before the event, or at the door. Cost is $10.
