Election 2004: Fight rages over political yard signs Election 2004: Fight rages over political yard signs (November 03, 2004)

Someone is making a habit of stealing Bush/Cheney yard signs in Portola Valley. And Kerry-Edwards signs are disappearing, too.

For the second consecutive week, a resident of Westridge Drive contacted the Almanac to report stolen Bush-Cheney signs -- three this time -- the same number and party affiliation as those stolen from the yard of Paloma Road resident Richard Jordan.

"It bothers me deeply that we can't express our feelings about how the government is run and not have it vandalized," said Mr. Jordan.

Another resident of Westridge Drive called the Almanac to say that she had put up a homemade Kerry-Edwards sign and two purchased signs. Those and a neighbor's Kerry-Edwards sign were vandalized.

Allied Arts

An Almanac reader who lives on Arbor Road in the Allied Arts neighborhood of Menlo Park reports that her Kerry/Edwards political sign was stolen last week, and when she put up another, that was stolen, too. Also, her Ira Ruskin for Assembly sign was stolen.
