Teas and puppet shows are on the December agenda at Gamble Gardens in Palo Alto. The formal teas are sold out with the exception of tea in Miss Gamble's house at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 11. Cost is $25.

Teddy bear teas are still available at 11 a.m. Friday, December 17, and 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 18. There will be tea, sandwiches and cookies in the main house for children ages 2-9 accompanied by an adult. Children may come dressed for tea with their special bear. Cost is $12 for adults, $10 for children.

A holiday puppet show will be held a 11:30 a.m., l2:15 p.m. and 1 p.m. Sunday, December 5, in the Gamble Garden carriage house. Cost is $10.

A holiday boutique and green sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, December 11. Reservations for the teas and puppet shows may be made by calling 329-1356, ext. 23.
Peninsula Teen Opera

Seven local teenagers are taking part in a program of opera and operetta, performed in English, on Friday and Saturday, November 19 and 20, at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, November 21, at 3 p.m. at Los Altos High School, 201 Almond Ave. in Los Altos. The program is presented by Peninsula Teen Opera.

The local students include: Dion Diederich, Nicole Kamra, Jennifer Mitchell, Jack Mosbacher and Todd Yecies, all of Woodside; Calvin Johnson of Portola Valley; and Nicole Bitler of Menlo Park.

The program will feature "Gianni Schicchi," a short comic opera by Puccini about money, marriage and greed. The students will also perform scenes from several other operas and operettas.

Admission is $15 ($10 for seniors and students under 18). For more information, call the Peninsula Teen Opera box office at 408-226-9673.

Founded in 1998, Peninsula Teen Opera is an opera training program for students ages 13 to 19.
Menlo Players

The Menlo Players Guild is presenting "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens through December 18 at the McKinley Theatre in Redwood City.

Showtimes are at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets range from $12 to $18.

One warm coat

Brownie Troop 1478 is hoping local residents will bring their clean reusable coats and jackets to Starbuck's on the corner of Avy Avenue and Alameda de las Pulgas from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, November 20.

The coats will be donated to the One Warm Coat community service effort and will be distributed to local adults and children.
Santa at Stanford

Santa Claus will arrive at Stanford Shopping Center at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, November 18, for a tree-lighting ceremony. A musical show will also feature the snow queen.

From November 18 through December 24, Santa Claus will be available for photos and visits in the center's pavilion.
