Tsunami relief concert set in Ladera Tsunami relief concert set in Ladera (February 02, 2005)

Classical guitarist Joseph Bacon will present a Tsunami relief benefit concert at 8 p.m. Saturday, February 12, at Ladera Community Church. A reception with the artist and dessert will follow the program.

Mr. Bacon, a resident of Marin County, began studying classical guitar in the 1950s and has attended master classes of Andres Segovia and Julian Bream. He made his formal debut in London in 1968 and at Carnegie Recital Hall in New York in 1969.

Mr. Bacon has appeared in concerts in England, France, Italy and America, and is a recording artist. A recent recording on the Metro label includes the music of Bach, Granados and Albesiz.

The February 12 concert is free, however, there will be a voluntary donation after the performance. All proceeds will benefit victims of the Southeast Asian tsunami through United Church of Christ/Church World Service, the refugee assistance ministry of 36 Protestant, Orthodox and Anglican denominations throughout the world.
