Spring break: Animal-care day camp for pre-teens
(March 16, 2005) Families with pre-teens who are staying in town during spring break may want to look into the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA's week-long day camp on responsible pet care and the humane treatment of animals.
At the camp -- the first of four this spring and summer -- kids can tour the animal shelter, interact with animals, talk with veterinarians and staff, and learn about the consequences of food choices, said education coordinator Amy Differding.
Camp begins Tuesday, March 29 and ends Friday, April 1; hours are 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily. The fee is $175 and enrollment is limited to 16 children, ages 9 to 12.
The shelter is located just north of Coyote Point Park at 12 Airport Boulevard in San Mateo. For more information, call 340-7022, ext. 369, or send e-mail to adifferding@PeninsulaHumaneSociety.org.
