Menlo Watch: Dog parks open March 21 Menlo Watch: Dog parks open March 21 (March 16, 2005)

Dogs, run and be free.

That's the plan starting Monday, March 21, when officially sanctioned off-leash hours start for canines in Menlo Park.

The city has created two dog park areas: one in a fenced 20,000-square-foot area at Willow Oaks Park, and one in the fenced ball field at Nealon Park.

Hours are 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to dusk, seven days a week, at Willow Oaks; and 8 to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday at Nealon.
Six-home plan is approved

A plan to build six new three-bedroom homes just off El Camino Real in Menlo Park sailed through the City Council on March 8. After a minimum of discussion, the council unanimously approved the proposal.

Developer John R. Hansen, a Menlo Park resident, plans to build the homes on vacant properties at 1421 and 1423 San Antonio Ave., a short street running parallel to El Camino between Encinal and Glenwood avenues.

The council had previously earmarked the site as a good spot for housing.
