Help needed for streetscape celebration
(March 23, 2005) Neighbors and merchants of the business district on the Alameda de las Pulgas in West Menlo Park will celebrate the completion of the streetscape project there on Saturday, April 30.
Volunteers are needed to help with the celebration, said Ken Turkowski, who is helping organize the event.
The streetscape project added sidewalks and trees, and redesigned the road and parking areas to make the three-block stretch safer and more appealing to pedestrians.
At the event, to be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., food merchants will serve special menu items, and there will be music, entertainment, a talent show, cooking demonstrations, awards, children's activities, and information from environmental and health organizations, Mr. Turkowski said.
To offer time or suggestions or to find out what you can do, send an e-mail to streetscape@pacbell.net, or call 854-0170.
