Tyler Anthony of Woodside competed in the state wrestling championships in Bakersfield on March 4 and 5, winning his first match in the heavyweight (275-pound) class before being eliminated.

The Bellarmine College Prep senior qualified for the state meet by finishing fourth in his weight class at the Central Coast Section championships.

Before that, Anthony finished first in the heavyweight class at the West Catholic Athletic League championships, held at St. Francis High School in Mountain View on February 12.

He has committed to the University of Pennsylvania and plans to attend the Wharton School of Business and play on the offensive line for the football team.
