Charlene Kabcenell named to POST board
(March 23, 2005) Charlene Kabcenell, a resident of Portola Valley, has been named to the Board of Directors of the Peninsula Open Space Trust.
Ms. Kabcenell is retired from Oracle Corp., where she was a vice president. She also sits on the board of the Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund and is an adviser to Community Foundation Silicon Valley and the Women of the Silicon Valley Fund.
A native of Hawaii, she moved to California in 1979 after graduating from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a degree in computer science and engineering, said a POST spokeswoman.
Ms. Kabcenell is a certified scuba diving instructor, as is her husband Derry. The couple are long-time admirers of POST for its land conservation efforts, the spokeswoman said.
"Charlene's active leadership in community affairs ... will complement the wealth of experience we already have on our board," said POST president Audrey Rust.
POST is a nonprofit land trust founded in 1977. The organization manages nearly 55,000 acres of open space and park land in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties, including 14,259 acres recently protected with funds from the $200 million Saving the Endangered Coast campaign.
