Local GOP leaders to speak in Menlo Park, Los Altos
(March 23, 2005) Republican leaders will speak at two public events sponsored by the South Peninsula Area Republican Coalition.
The first event will take place in Menlo Park on Wednesday, March 30, starting at 6:30 p.m.
Karen King, chair of the San Mateo County Republican Party, and W. Keen Butcher, chair of the Santa Clara County Republican Party, will describe their organizations' workings and how they support Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's ballot initiatives to change legislative redistricting, teacher pay, and the public employee retirement system.
The meeting will be held in Room 112 of the Burgess Recreation Center, 701 Laurel St., the southernmost building on the Alma Street side of the Menlo Park Civic Center. Refreshments will be offered. The cost is $15.
Kevin McCarthy
The second event, with GOP Assembly Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Bakersfield, will start at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, at Chef Chu's restaurant, 1067 N. San Antonio Road at El Camino Real in Los Altos.
Mr. McCarthy is on the Assembly's joint legislative budget committee and on committees on technology and jobs, California infrastructure, and groundwater quality. He also will discuss Gov. Schwarzenegger's initiatives.
The charge for this event is $25 for members, $30 for non-members, and $5 for students with identification.

New directors
The South Peninsula Area Republican Coalition has elected four new directors: JoAnn Barr of Sunnyvale, Haile Clay of Redwood City, Mike Kasperzak of Mountain View, and Don Wolfe of Saratoga. The new board elected Dick Blanding of Los Altos as president and Jasper Williams of Menlo Park as first vice president in charge of events.
