Mark Boettger heads police patrol division
(April 06, 2005) Menlo Park Police Department Sgt. Mark K. Boettger, a Menlo Park native and a graduate of Menlo-Atherton High School, has been promoted to commander of the patrol division, the group responsible for street patrols, responding to emergencies and conducting preliminary investigations.
Mr. Boettger first came to the department in 1983 when he joined the Explorer program for police cadets 14 to 21 years old. Students in the program attend a regional police academy and help at disaster scenes and in searches for missing children.
As a sergeant, Mr. Boettger oversaw the child safety seat program and drunken driving enforcement.
His wife Cathy is a deputy in the county Sheriff's Office. He plans to enroll as a graduate student in public administration at his alma mater, Notre Dame de Namur in Belmont.
