Around Town: Hi ho, radio: Actors re-enact broadcast past Around Town: Hi ho, radio: Actors re-enact broadcast past (April 06, 2005)

Still got your Lone Ranger Six-Shooter ring ... and a hankering for some old-time singing commercials?

Pieces of the not-so-distant past will come to life again on Friday, April 15, as actors recreate old radio episodes of "Origin of the Lone Ranger," "War of the Worlds," "Sergeant Preston of the Yukon" and other programs.

The Broadcast Legends, a group of radio and television professionals who have been in the business for more than 20 years, will put on the "Golden Memories of Radio" show at Cubberley Auditorium at 4000 Middlefield Road in Palo Alto at 7:30 p.m. The event is organized by the Museum of American Heritage in Palo Alto.

Large old-fashioned microphones and a sound effect table creating hoofbeats, clomping feet and other sounds will be on hand. The cast includes Dave Parker, who once acted on the "Lone Ranger" radio show; and Bay Area radio and TV personalities Fred LaCosse, Terry Lowry, Duncan Robertson and Ed Vasgersian.

Admission is $10 for members of the Museum of American Heritage and $15 for non-members. Seating is limited and reservations are strongly advised; call 321-1004.
