Ask the officer Ask the officer (April 27, 2005)

Menlo Park police officer Glenn J. Raggio answers questions about the police and law enforcement. Call 330-6396, or e-mail: asktheofficer@menlopark.org. Q. What are some of the great or not-so-great excuses people give when stopped for traffic violations? A. After being pulled over for a traffic violation, an elderly driver gave the officer a long-expired driver's license. When the officer challenged the driver about the expiration, the driver said: "Officer, the piece of paper expired, not my ability to drive. Besides, on the two occasions I went to the DMV, the line was so long I realized I might not have that much time left on this planet."
