Woodside School: Gauging support for a construction bond measure
(April 27, 2005) The Woodside School District has scheduled a public meeting for Wednesday, April 27, to discuss results of a survey designed to gauge community sentiment for a new school construction bond.
The school board saw the first draft of a conceptual master plan for Woodside School at the April 13 school board meeting. This Wednesday's meeting will take place at 11 a.m. in Room 37 on the campus at 3195 Woodside Road.
The draft plan includes 14 new classrooms, a new band room, a computer lab, a new administration building and community room, and a full-size soccer field and running track. New drop-off zones near the administration and kindergarten areas could ease traffic congestion on Woodside Road in the mornings and afternoons.
District Superintendent Dan Vinson has described the plan as very preliminary and one that does not necessarily represent what might eventually be built.
Results of the survey -- done by Godbe Research of Half Moon Bay for $11,000 -- will be an important element in a community conversation on the size of the bond, Mr. Vinson has said.
If implemented in its entirety, the draft plan could cost between $9 million and $12 million, said school board President Bettina Pike.
