Closing sale set at Wessex bookstore Closing sale set at Wessex bookstore (April 27, 2005)

The book is closing on the 30-year Menlo Park institution Wessex Books, but avid readers can still take home a piece of it at the shop's liquidation sale.

Owner Tom Haydon plans to begin the sale at 11 a.m. Friday, April 29, selling books, records, shelves and fixtures at 50 percent off. The store is located at 558 Santa Cruz Ave.

People can make advance offers on subject areas of books or large quantities of records by calling 321-1333 or e-mailing store@wessexbooks.com. The sale is expected to continue until everything is sold.

Mr. Haydon is planning to do something different after running the shop since 1975 and had hoped to sell Wessex, but found no takers.
