Lilly and Robert Schulte are opening their Menlo Park garden Saturday, May 14, for an afternoon of music, wine and cheese, and would love to have you drop by.
They hope to raise money to support the Rev. Peter Pabst's dream of founding Our Lady of Grace Nativity School for Girls in San Jose.
The school would educate Hispanic children who are economically disadvantaged.
"He's already raised his first million," says Ms. Schulte, better known as "Miss Lilly," founder of three Menlo Park pre-schools, including "Littlest Angels" at Bethany Lutheran Church.
The Schultes met Father Pabst at St. Denis Church in Menlo Park, where he says Mass once a month. They are supporting the Jesuit priest's plans to open a private Catholic school for girls, similar to the Sacred Heart Nativity School for Boys, which he founded in San Jose three years ago.
The Schulte's benefit will feature "The Best of Broadway: Opera to Cabaret" by the Uptown Singers. The ensemble of five entertainers includes Cathy Holly, who was a classmate of Ms. Schulte at Sacred Heart School in San Francisco. The Uptown Singers perform at Cafe Fino in Palo Alto.
The Schultes says they expect at least 100 people at their benefit and would welcome more. The party will be held from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 14, at 1019 Middle Ave. in Menlo Park. Tickets at $35 each will be available at the door.
