County seeks candidates for public boards, committees
(May 11, 2005) San Mateo County residents interested in becoming involved with the community might consider applying for a seat on one of the boards or committees that advise government agencies.
Here are some openings:
** The San Mateo County Transportation Authority, which allocates funds from the Measure A half-cent sales tax for transportation projects in the county, is seeking residents for its 15-member Citizens Advisory Committee. The committee meets at 4:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday before the first Thursday of the month. Applications are due by May 20. For an application, go to smcta.com, or call 508-6447.
** The Bayside and Coastside Design Review committees, which review building permit applications and residential development projects in unincorporated North Fair Oaks and the Mid-Coast, have vacancies. Deadline to apply is May 31.
** The Confined Animal Technical Advisory Committee, which advises the county on issues related to keeping horses, cows and other confined animals, has four vacancies. Applicants must reside in unincorporated San Mateo County. Deadline for applications is June 3.
** The Housing Endowment and Trust (HEART), which raises and distributes funds to build permanent affordable housing in San Mateo County, needs an at-large director from the private sector for its 21-member board. Application deadline is June 3.
