Sign of the times Sign of the times (May 25, 2005)

Caption with Marjorie Mader photo in print edition: A giant peace symbol, cut into the grassy hillside west of Interstate 280 between Alpine and Sand Hill roads, has mysteriously appeared on Stanford University land. The well-defined sign is visible to drivers heading north on 280 about one-half mile from the Alpine Road entrance to the freeway. Calls to neighboring Webb Ranch, Stanford, police and peace organizations failed to produce any clues as to its origin.
