Half Moon Bay Firehouse #9 defeated Menlo-Atherton's Lutticken's by a score of 3-0 in the championship game of the first annual Alpine Tournament of Champions on June 21 at Ford Field in Portola Valley.

Lutticken's made it to the championship game by defeating Alpine's Hengehold 5-4 on June 18.

All four teams in the three-day tournament at Ford Field were the Majors division champions of their league. Firehouse #9 defeated San Carlos, 6-4, in the opening game June 18.

In the June 21 game with Lutticken's, Firehouse #9 produced all its runs in the bottom of the first with a three-run homer by the team's star pitcher, Elijah Abramson.

The action got started in the first when Firehouse #9's second batter hit a single and then the clean-up hitter drew a seven pitch 3-2 walk.

With two runners on base, Abramson came to bat and hit a line drive over the center-field scoreboard for a three-run score. It was his fifth home run of the year.

Abramson pitched all six innings of the game and was the winning pitcher with a one-hit shutout.

Chace Warren was the losing pitcher with three strikeouts, two walks and four hits.
